View my articles on npENGAGE and learn about nonprofit online advocacy and more
This week, I am excited to announce that my first two articles were posted on npENGAGE, Blackbaud’s official blog website. Under the About section of the site, “npENGAGE is the premier nonprofit resource for trends, best practices, and need-to-know news.” This is a significant milestone for me as I have sought to have some of my thoughts posted in articles there for some time. It wasn’t until an invitation was extended to me from some colleagues that I work with at Blackbaud that my contributions found their way onto that site.
Getting an article posted on npENGAGE signals that I am recognized as a thought leader on the topics I post about. This means a great deal to me and I hope you find my contributions on that site of value as well.
My first two articles are related to nonprofit advocacy. The first article is overcoming the myth that nonprofits who have 501(c)(3) status cannot engage in advocacy and/or lobbying. This is untrue and quite the opposite.
My second article discusses how to get started in advocacy and how to seek out meaningful measurement. If you’re a follower of my thoughts here at WillHull.com on Williteration, you already know that I am a fan of performance measurement and seeking more than quanitative measurement, but also, a blend of qualitative as well as quantitative measurement in seeking outcome indicators that contribute to the outcome we are seeking when engaging in performance measurement. That being said, this article tackles the issue of how to measure nonprofit advocacy activities when each metric does not ultimately yield desired outcomes when not only human activity involved, such as who is taking action by communicating with their decision maker (e.g. a Congressional Representative or Senator), but also when building coalitions with many other organizations who pool resources with yours to seek the societal change or policy result that will benefit all parties involved.
I hope you can take a moment and view these articles at npENGAGE. To view any new articles posted, please take a look at my author page and find what else I have contributed since becoming an author on npENGAGE.
